Support Letter!

Dear Friends and Family,

I am writing this letter to explain to you some very exciting decisions Kelly and I have prayerfully made in this past month.  I have decided to not take a paying teaching job this next year and instead teach as a missionary in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.  The organization I am going through is called South American Mission (SAM) and the school they sponsor is called Santa Cruz Christian Learning Center (SCCLC).   

Kelly will not be accompanying me as he has decided to join the United States Army and will be completing required training for a career in military police.  He will be in Missouri without the ability to live with me for 5 months.  After we found this out, we decided that this would be a great time for me to share about Jesus abroad as opposed to waiting for Kelly to return.  Kelly and I began to pray about what I should do during this time.  Around this time, SAM contacted me to see if I was available to teach at SCCLC in the fall. I was amazed at to how God literally put this opportunity in my lap. As of a few days ago I am officially going to Bolivia to teach! God is so faithful.

From August through December, I will be teaching Kindergarten at Santa Cruz Christian Learning Center in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.  SCCLC is made up of about 200 students who are the children of professional class Bolivians, missionaries, and international businessmen living in the city.  I will be teaching the students in English, my bilingual kindergarten classroom teaching experience will be very helpful for the students who are native Spanish speakers.  Please check out their website http://www.scclc.org/.  My vision during my time at SCCLC is to lead students and their families to know and love Jesus. Growing up in a Christian school setting, I know how important the discipleship of a teacher can be and I hope to model those characteristics towards my students and their families.  This is a very exciting experience as I will be able to use my faith, my teaching experience, and my knowledge of Spanish all to serve in the name of JESUS CHRIST.  I remember as a child listening and singing along with Audio Adrenaline to the song Hands and Feet. One line said, "I want to be your hands, I want to be your feet; I will go where you send me." This is my song of inspiration as I go to Bolivia. 

As you may have gathered this position is not a paid position and it depends on me raising support from my friends and family. I will need financial support for transportation, food, housing, insurance, and other various expenses. The budget that was created by SAM totals a little under $6,000. I was officially accepted to teach through SAM on June 23rd and am leaving August 1st. Kelly and I are putting complete trust in God that if I am meant to go, He will provide for me in this short period of time.

My hope is that you would prayerfully consider supporting me through prayer and/or finances with a monthly pledge or a one-time gift by filling out the attached form or calling (803) 802-8580 by July 31, 2011. It is my hope that you will partner with me in this adventure to be Christ's hands and feet in Bolivia.
